Ashen Sun – Worlock

Ashen Sun announce gothic reinterpretation of Industrial Classic "Worlock"...

Ashen Sun, the dark electronic and gothic project led by Johnny Hagel (Tiamat, Sundown, Sorcerer), emerges from the shadows with a bold and uncompromising vision. The band announces the release of a haunting new single and video set for April 17, 2026.

The highly anticipated track is a gothic reinterpretation of “Worlock”, the iconic industrial anthem originally performed by Skinny Puppy on their landmark album “Rabies”. Rather than executing a direct cover, Ashen Sun reshapes the song into a darker, slower, and more atmospheric piece. By shifting its core from industrial aggression to a cinematic direction, the track emphasizes mood and immersion. Built around layered textures and restrained dynamics, it draws deeply from the spirit of 90s gothic rock while maintaining a razor-sharp, modern production edge.

This reimagined version features a striking collaboration with Lucifer’s Aid, a boundary-pushing act in the industrial underground. Lucifer’s Aid brings an additional dimension to the track, contributing visceral vocals and atmospheric elements that amplify the song’s sense of tension and decay. The collaboration results in a version that feels both reverent and refreshingly dangerous—bridging generations of industrial music fans.

“‘Worlock’ has always been a defining track for us”, says Ashen Sun. “We didn’t want to just recreate it—we wanted to reinterpret it through our own lens, while honoring the raw emotion and chaos that made it timeless. Working with Lucifer’s Aid allowed us to push it even further into darker territory”.

The release marks another step in Ashen Sun’s evolution as a force within the underground scene, continuing to build momentum with a sound that fuses aggression, atmosphere, and experimentation.

The single will be available on all major streaming platforms on April 17th, 2026, accompanied by a visualizer that captures the bleak, dystopian aesthetic of the track.
