cd review: Suicide Commando-Implements of Hell

genre: dark-harsh electro/industrial

label: Out of Line music[EUR]  Metropolis Records[USA]

release date: 22.1.2010

Suicide Commando, the moniker under which demented mastermind Johan Van Roy creates his own unique brand of evil electronics, has returned. For over 24 years Suicide Commando has been pushing the boundaries of aggression, and with each release his notoriety grows. The new album, Implements Of Hell, is the successor to 2006’s Bind Torture Kill. In late 2009 we received warnings of what was to come. The singles “Until We Die” and “Die Motherfucker Die” served notice as to the evil that was gestating. But the warnings were not enough. Implements Of Hell stands as one of Suicide Commando’s greatest works . Unrelenting, hook-laden, and darker than Hell … this is the way evil electro is supposed to sound. Special limited edition version with a bonus disc featuring remixes by Komor Kommando, Modulate, JH from Centhron, Schattenschlag, Fïx8Sëd8, and more.

The opening track ''The pleasures of sin'' is  as hell as Johan himself..starts with a soft dark warning  and then starts banging as always!! Quite tough song, excellent music and for passionate dancers..On the other side we come to face another threat,a more melodic, brooding sway-fests like ''Death Cures All Pain''...Reminds me of ''Desire''[wumpscut mix] popular enough and part of Johan's more classic collection of successes..mediocre music but not bad at all!! ''God is in the Rain'' similar the previous one is obviously better. The first thing you catch up with is the dark melody which goe on till the song ends...In the first minute, ties up with the beat and the way to hell comes forth...great song ,fantastic music ..just as.. ''The dying breed'' strong melody, powerful vocals and darkness in it's music as..always.. also quite depressing.

And ''Come down with me'' presents a not bad music, of course nice melody but not the kind of the song that makes you dance. If you'll hear out some back vocals...good choice!! Very evil song,I like it but could be better. And here we are...where the ''Perils of Indifference'' obtain our souls!!! Extrodinary  sounds and a culling for the dancers!! The classic harsh vocals remain to trouble us further. And we go down again to dance and sweat with ''Severed heads'' ,a good music patch however not''DIE Motherfucker die'' We already know this one from a previous single..the source of evil!! The answer to every dancefloor and any tortured soul..Fabulous Music!! It shows experience and promises very harsh nights!! ''Until we die'' though is not good..I believe it's just in to fill the gap..of course that's about the album edit..Well,it's other version {winter version] is a soft, slow, harsh vocal-melody song..nothing to add.

Back to the tops again, we have an evil dance ''Hate me'' which shows some content and  with powerful sounds...Tell me who could resist to give it a dance? Nobody in dark mood!! Tough choice.I like it!! The same way I like  the Modulate remix about ''Die Motherfucker die'' just perfect!! Classic Modulate sounds and some power electronics to knock you off!! Couldn't be better..The original one lacks the powerful sounds ,Modulate gave ''Die Motherfucker die'' making it perfect.Good enough also is the Nurzery Rhymes remix for ''Die Motherfucker die'' in contrast to the realy bad making of this song by  Fïx8Sëd8. Doesn't matter though...We have three very nice versions of ''DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE'' who cares about the failed fourth?!

And that's something different till now..''Severed heads'' mixed by Komor Kommando!! Sincerely better from the original and generally with some <> sounds!! Good and unique in this album..Nice making!! As unique as ''Severed heads'' remix by  Schattenschlag!! Excellent music and sounds.Consider it for an off the limits dance! It's tough also..And three not satisfying remixes, the two for the song we earlier encountered,''The Perils of Indifference''.The Xotox remix does not obviously match the dark sound requirements of this album. It may sound a bit new and different however it's not good at all as the JH remix from Centhron..He tried to make it work, but failure was compelling..How can this remix be compared to the great work of Suicide Commando? It's a bad copy from the original..I won't say more.Nothing positive either for this last bad remix[Leaether strip] for Hate me.The sound is very bad no rhythym, some vocals don't match the dark part of this album and it doesn't fill in the requirements of this album!

And..last but not least, the far best in the album..the old classic ''CAUSE OF DEATH'' [final count 2009] Perfect in every aspect and the choice of a smart dj..Combines all Suicide Commando parts and makes an experienced and great result..the proof? Ask those who dance...

I like this album very much!! Despite some not good remixes,it remains a respectful aspect of Johan Van Roy..I wonder could Suicide Commando be any better?
